I have been volunteered to replace the leaf spring bushes on my brothers Hilux. I've done all sorts of mechanical work, but have never done leaf spring bushes. They will be replaced with Synthetic Polymer bushes. Now when I do this, I will need to remove the original bushes which will be the type with the metal sleeves pressed into the springs. Watched a heap of videos of which weren't much help and want to avoid the burning out of the old bushes and using a reciprocating saw to cut the inner of the sleeves to get them out with hammer, chisels and punches. I do have a kit here I have used on ball joints and such, but I don't know as yet if I have the correct pieces to fit, until I get the springs out. It's the type with a heavy duty C-clamp.

It has a lot of different sized sleeves so I may get lucky. Anyway, just wondering if anyone here has any experience with leaf spring bushes and want to share their experience or tips for making the job easier. I also have do do the front upper and lower control arms. That's a big job as well but at least the bushes are easier to remove and replace.
