Thread: Here is a Classy Mortiser .

I've never seen a mortiser with air clamps or plunge but I have seen an older horizontal doweller that had been retrofitted to work like this. Much the same just horizontal instead of vertical. It worked a treat. Once setup it was very easy to use but there were two controls - one foot pedal for the air clamps and a separate one for the plunging arm.
In a production environment it would be very useful.

First Mortiser I've seen as well . I have the same make as the Mortiser (Brookman) in the dowel machine . 3 holes at a push of a foot lever and button . Its s nice thing. I sometimes have had a need for it . A set of chairs a while back was the last time . It pays off with big runs . I'm more into one off builds though so struggle to think of if I've ever made a buck out of it . Lot of holes and lengths of dowels . And the floppy way that glueing up dowel jointed stuff goes makes me a fan of the mortise and tenon.

Very classy, I learned about these when one appeared on ebay very soon after I had converted a robinson cadet to hydraulic to save my arm. Since then Ive seen a couple more, but not for the sort of minimal money that that first one changed hands for. I thought I would have had a chance at this one but my high bid was nowhere near the reserve it turns out unfortunately. Has anybody any literature on one of these? I think this model is a 'ULH', and there is a little sister to this model too, also hydraulic I think.
