    As the mods will no longer allow us to edit after a day - and I don't want to re-post the entire list of over 200 machines so soon - so, to make sure I don't loose this:

    3880 - MY 678 (bandsaw sharpener & setter) - New Zealand;

    Hi Fred. Not "Never".

    There was a period last year where even really old threads could be modified. A result of the photos being lost, to allow members to reattach old photos I believe. It was great, I could add machines to the original lists days, even weeks later. For example, if you have a look at post 63 in this thread, you can see it was posted 13th August last year. I last edited it on 6th September.

    On the Canadian forum I can still edits posts made in January this year.

    But I realise you guys get to set the rules, and I have to live with that - just saying it's sometimes a pain when doing databases like this thread.

    Cheers, Vann.

    That was an exceptional circumstance, but the 24hr rule was in place since before I became a mod And just for the record the "mods" don't set most of the rules, that is done by our benevolent dictator. So, if you want to have pot-shots please direct them in the right direction.

    I am a member on several forums and of all of them this one allows the longest time for editing, the shortest allows 15 minutes There are very good reasons for not allowing unlimited time for editing

    If you want an editable record you would be far better off to create an Excel spreadsheet that you can update and upload a new version every now and again

    I post on loads of forums too, most of them actually have zero restriction on editing times. This place is very restrictive in comparison.

    That's interesting - very short editing times.

    Having checked the Canadian site (~8 weeks and still able to edit), I checked ukworkshop (which I though might be 24 hours or less) - at 29 hours since my last post there, it's still got the edit icon up (edit: now 40 hours, edit icon still showing). It looks like this one is the shortest of the sites I regularly visit. I suppose I should have a look at OWWM next - and see what the Yanks allow.

    Edit (while I still can ). Just had a look at a post I did on OWWM on 20 Feb. Still has the edit icon up. They must be dodgy sites you visit Big Shed, to allow such short edit times...

    All intended in good humour Big Shed - I really appreciate you moving those two threads last week.

    Wow Jack, that's interesting. I had a quick look through the list so far, and can find nothing to contradict that - so the info looks genuine.

    The lowest numbers in the list to date (excluding that defiant MN 20) are:

    JY 107;
    PL 105;
    PKF 108;
    RX 107;
    RB 109.

    Cant wait to see that Jack . Every little detail from an older Gent who worked there would be very interesting to hear.

    As our benevolent dictator will no longer allow us to edit after a day - and I don't want to re-post the entire list of over 200 machines so soon - to make sure I don't loose this:

    1949
    32569 - RD 109 (16" buzzer) - United Kingdom;

    1953
    45625 - NH 221 (grinder) - New Zealand;

    Cheers, Vann.

    Vann, your pushing the point is getting tiresome.

    Maybe you should use a more "with it" way of keeping your lists up to date, eg Word or Excel? Both those files can be uploaded and attached to a post.

    So rather than bleat about the forum rules maybe do something positive?
