I wonder if red was the original colour instead of green? I note these have the ball bearing badges in lieu of the hyco junior cast into it......

    Cheers stew

I listed/sold that one, probably a bit too cheap but needed to clear out some items for a friend. Really nice little saw with rise and fall, plus you could angle the table.

    Yes was original colour.

I think they must have gone through a red phase at some point as I have seen quite few Hyco machines that have all been this red Colour.

It had 2 Fences when I bought it - not bad for $50.

I only bought it as it was Australian Made and Vintage and in good condition, Have not been able to find out much about Hyco over the last 2 years. The business was sold in the 50’s. My saw was built in the second half of the 40’s or early 50’s just going on messages I have received about it.
Hyco was a very active company; they had retailers all over Australia and in Tassie, there was just a sole distributor. They did the Australian show Circuit demonstrating their machines (that would have taken a lot of doing as all their equipment was very heavy. They did not seem to receive any support from the Media as the only article I could find where a Schools P & C bought a Hyco Table Saw for their manual arts dept. but was able to find 100’s of newspaper ads placed by their retailers. When Hyco was sold table saws and a few other lines were still sold under the Hyco name but believe the Colour was changed from Red to Green. The big Lathes were sold by the new company with combines brand names “WoodFast Hyco” 2 years ago when I tried to find out about Hyco was contacted by 2 people that had Hyco machines One had a large drill press which he refurbished as he said he could not buy a better drill press today and the other chap had a large Table Saw it cost him nothing except the hire of a crane and a truck to collect and deliver to his shed but they had not been able to find much about Hyco. It’s criminal that such history is lost but back then they were just another Manufacturer but today we find it important as there are virtually none left in Australia. Back then washing machines were manufactured in all cities Here in Perth there were even a Holden assembly plant Panels, Parts and engines & Gearboxes were shipped by train and they were assembled and painted here. 4 Manufacturing companies I remember well are Lightburn, Hills, Triton and Maton (guitars the only one still in Australia now 72 years old and most of the Guitars they manufacture are exported I think Maton could be the oldest manufacturing company in Australia today a family owned business) and right up to the mid 70’s most Australian Guitarist had an Australian made Amplifier.
With my Hyco have not got around to building a stand for it yet have designed a Steel One and a Wooden one which expands the table surface and most probably will have a fence built into it and that way it will not end up as scrap metal as most Hyco have. When I do the Country Show & Field day circuit I will display a poster size blow-up of the Hyco nameplate to see if it draws any attention. As If any are left they will be in the country.
We can thank Hawke & Keating that Triton was sold to a foreign buyer as with a floating currency gives foreign buyers a large discount to start with. Then the tax dept gives small business a hard time especially manufacturing and the tax department treats the development of new technology and products as a tax dodge. But must say the German company done an excellent job designing the Router.
