Mid saw universal
Hi Have the job of sorting out my late uncle tools.
Came across a Misaw universal in pieces.
Think have found 90% but not sure what it looks like is making it a challenge.
Think was distributed by W Thornley & Sons.
Will post photos of what i Have soon.
Does any one have some info, pictures on these machines?

Interesting. I've not heard of these before, but it's obviously a significant machine, what with an 18" saw blade and 9" buzzer.

Hi David,
There is very little info out there regarding Thornley. I have a catalogue from the Mid 1920's and that's about it. For a company that started in 1908 and closed in the early 1980's... I can't believe something didn't survive. Beside all that I have collected images of anything Thornley as they have popped up. I have never seen one of these Midsaws with a tag like that so would expect that it was a later model. The Midsaws that Thornley made in Australia were under licence

The Photos above are from one that was for sale around Newcastle awhile ago. I am not sure what you have is the same as this though. It may be a later import distributed by someone other than Thornley.
Not sure how to upload a pdf... if someone can give me some pointers I will upload the Thornley catalogue.

Here's a newspaper ad for the Thornley Mid saw universal from a magazine entitled:
Building: The Magazine for the Architect, Builder, Property Owner and Merchant.
It is from Wed 2 Aug 1939 page 16. Here is the link.

Found the Thornley Catalogue on line.
Thornley Catalogue
There is quite a bit of info on pages 129, 134, 135, 136, 137, 138
Even though this is from a different era it might give a clue as to how it went together.

Thanks Gaza and Bem
This is very helpful at least I can look for components from picture.
It would be a shame to have it lost, looks very strong and well built machine.
Thanks again for your help

Hi
Unfortunately I have come to the reality that I do not have the time or room to complete the Midsaw Universal wood working machine.
And the place were its is at the moment will have to be sold.
I Will post here on market place hope someone is interested in the project.
