I hadn't even noticed. Like Auscab, I was too busy wondering what is behind that ply.
Maybe it's a left-handed slider (just swap two wires) ...
...or for putting wood back on if you make a cut in the wrong place .
Where's Sion when you need him? Too busy over on CWW looking at French machines .

Yes indeed, unfortunately I don't know what model it is (BN maybe?) but I have seen a few others like it with either plain or ball bearings, this is the first though I've noticed with any of the attachments present. Its not in the 1902 catalogue which includes similar but simpler looking machines, and its not in one from the 1920s either which shows a later model so I guess its from somewhere between those.
This machine has a slightly strange sliding table arrangement - its sat on two differential rollers and is attached to the saw only by gravity.

Hi Sion,
thanks for your wisdom! I doubt any of us are likely to see this machine, it's nearly 3,000kms from me and further for Matty or Rob and the guy has telephone bookitis when it comes to a price!
Have fun,
Alli
