Nice work roberts. I think the inserts are so easy to pop in and quite robust that it’s far easier to have a tilting one and the resaw type. My tilting type is quite sloppy in the blade slot in the opening. I just use a big Forstner bit From the bottom side just shy of a quarter-inch thick in the blade area . Here’s my re-saw insert

    Tha's a kn'nice insert Jack ! As usual !

Yeah I think a few inserts for blade sizes and for tilting would be good stored hanging on the inside of the top or bottom door maybe .
One nice way of producing them Ive been thinking of would be to Cast some zinc into a pattern and then turn and machine that . A Shiny insert .

I wired up the DR today and got her going . Ive still got to do more blade guides but the first two on there are working well . Very pleased with the saw . The blade speed is the first thing I noticed . That thing is flying !! and it cut so well because of it .
Second thing I found out is, don't leave the brake on ! .
We went for a second run and couldnt figure out what was wrong . It sounded like a phase was dropping out , checked the plug , checked the switch gear a number of times . cleaned it , gave it a little oil at the pivot point . Then found I had left the brake on . !! Great break . Works well . First saw Ive had with a brake.

I did some test cuts . On the last cut I was pushing to see how easy it was to slow the machine . It slowed but wasn't to bad.
I loaded the video onto my second Instagram Account . The one I should put all workshop and machinery things on . Have a look . There is three videos of it cutting . You have to click on the image to get the second and third videos to run.

After the test runs I went and got some Elm logs I cut a year ago and converted them down to small table and stool size . The stuff is still wet and will move some before its dry . This will have it drying a lot faster having it close to the finished size.
I knocked the bark off , its being eaten so is riddled with holes.
The saw just ate it up and I had 15 boards in a few minutes.
Ive got a few ton of this Elm . A local Guy gave me the tree and I took every worthwhile stick of it .

    Default Fence for the DR

I fitted a fence to My DR 30 a while back . Ive never seen an original Wadkin fence available here in Australia for the DR so I adapted another type of vintage table saw fence fence to work . I use a big blade on the saw and like ripping down thick stock quickly on it. Without a fence Ive been doing it to a pencil line. The fence is a lot better and allows veneer cutting as well as accurate general ripping and is much faster and easier than a table saw for roughing down stuff.

The 1/2 inch holes along the face of the DR table allow a bar to be fitted that a fence can run along and they provide a way of adjusting that bar so the fence can be tuned to run correct for the blade.
I Have collected a couple of this type of vintage fence which was made for a Melbourne Made saw just after WW2 .
The Wellcome saw. Or it was a Wellcome product table saw. The first one I got I fitted to My Bursgreen 10 AGS table saw bar.

    IMG_8464a.jpg IMG_8464aa.jpg

So I bought some Round Bar the right size and drilled and counter bored the bar to take two screws. The screws were made by welding a nut at each end of some threaded rod then turning them down in the metal lathe.
I did the counter bore by grinding a drill bit to follow the hole drilled through the bar and form the shoulder for the screw to rest on. It was rough but it worked out .

Then I had to turn down two nuts with a shoulder to engage on the back sides of the bar . So adjusting these and the screw alters the angle of the bar off the band saw table . I copied this idea of another bandsaw I used to use years ago .

With the bar screwed on the fence mechanism was fitted and cleaned and adjusted to work .

I can fit the first fence off My AGS on as well . One on the left and one on the right . Not sure Ill have a need for it but it will allow a type of guidance for cutting Ive never had before.

I fitted a wood fence on and have been using it. Here it is ripping two 50mm thick rough sawn boards stacked on top of each other that will be machined and laminated together for two 90 x 90 table legs.

I've been considering something similar but with angle and square stock so I can use the Beisemeier style fence from my table saw on the Robinson when I need a fence for ripping. Yours looks a lot better though!

I originally bought that fence to use on a LS Barker 36" band saw but the Wadkin then came along .
My LS Barker still sits in pieces in a shed. Its a nice thing . Simple and huge .
It'd suit the Barker . Aussie saw with an Aussie fence. It'd be nice to get it running one day.
