Default Wadkin RE ?? Sold on Gumtree

This machine was recently sold on Gumtree location was in Brisbane.(Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough... Bargain at $300) There was only one pic. I spoke to the guy and he wasn't interested in providing any more pics He told me it was 20" and it looks like an RE from the 30's but I could be wrong. I retrieved the one and only pic..hoping the lucky guy who bought it might be a member and share any some more images in particular the plate.

Nice old one Gazza . Looks older than the RE from what catalogue pics I have . This MO came in 20 “ and is from a 1925 or 28 catalogue . It looks like a later version of that ? Lovely thing at $300!

Thanks mate....... It certainly looks like one of these. The guy said his farther bought it in the 30's. You got to be quick... the guy posted late at night and I rang first thing the next morning and there was two people ahead of me. Apparently one guy wanted to see it run... For $300 bucks I would have taken it sight unseen..... May have been divorced afterwards that's a chance you got to take

    Hi Rob,
    How are you doing?

I thought you were claiming that your workshop was full!

For that price I can see why you would be tempted if it was closer. More than a bit too far for me!

    Have fun,
    Alli

    I’m good thanks Alli .

Yes its it’s full but the next step could be a Wadkin letterbox

I have three EQ’s sitting here atm . Matty was saying “what will you do with the third one ? “

I said im thinking of turning it into a workshop BBQ . He didn’t approve . That was a funny moment .

    Hi rob,
    3 EQ's!
Put them back to back in a triangle, just enough gap to get to the backside. Wouldn't use up much space and all could be in use.

Then you would be safe from marauding gangs of Wadkin purists wanting to paint you grey and hang you from the rafters for heresy!

Or you could ship one to the "purist free zone" by the beach here that I know of. Not a zealot in sight!

    Have fun,
    Alli

I've got a pk that's missing all of the good bits and was seriously tempted to make the main casting into a seat

When I pulled my old stroke sander apart for the buyer to pick up I could see a couple of columns for the front gate. Sorry I let them go as I now have the Furphy tank ends and a couple of wheels for the gate.

    Hi Matty,
You do realise that the zealots will have you and Henry burning in purist hell for such comments. I don't mind, it means I'll have some company at last

    Have fun,

Hi Alli, l still consider my self a purest, l have but one rule when it comes to this behavior of "repurposing machines" quite simply it must be able to be reversed, in other words in years to come if some one can see the potential of a machine put back to original with no missing bits then l am happy with that.
Machine legs beging chopped up for "architecturally designed" tables, spindle moulders as Bbq's (we won't mention names) do not impress me in the slightest.
