Thanks for posting about it, but it went before I got a chance to look at the pikkies. If you get time, next time a similar machine pops up, copy some of the photos before they disappear (please).

Fortunately for me, Auscab sent me a couple of photos privately (I think it's the same machine).

    Cheers, Vann.

    And this...

    RM 1502.jpg

It's a 1949 machine. The biggest RM, complete with tilting infeed table. Very nice.

Apparently there were more photos but this, and the tag photo Alli posted, are all I got.

Edit: Aha. I see (over on OWWM) that you not only copied the photos, but you bought the monster. Bravo !!

    Cheers, Vann.

as you will find out :::::::::::: if you do not plan your mill work you will be going back and forth from planer to thicknesser . even if you run with out chip extraction you need to lower the table for the chips to not clog .

    like this

unlike this 1947 White PD with built in chip collection you need a way to get the thicknesser table up and down fast on the RM to have moderate production . here the table does not move in the White

    image_90059.jpg
as a side it is nice to see the planer table so well made and conceived on this machine to have parallelogram table so thin in a very early model
    image_90060.jpg

never understood why this type over under never took off in the UK. could it be the table go out of alignment like the new ones do ?

here i have a pick up box that is 6" thick and because most of the time you are planing 1 and 2" stock it can be a real work out to switch over and raise and lower the table by hand .

could be why the FM came with power table as special order as the table is heavy and geared very low .

this is a change over of less than one minute

here you can see how good it handles the chips

    https://www.instagram.com/p/BTbpGZBF...nglishmachines

so you see with the power table and a digital readout you can put the table right back and forth very fast and easy to .001" and record settings for repeat work and the machine is a joy when you forget a process/missed a part or have to re-mill

    read outs (DRO)are $39

    Jack,
When you are using the RM as a thicknesser does you pick up box sit on top to collect the chips from that operation also.
I had an 18” Wadkin Bursgreen under and over many years ago and made the box to do both jobs.
I used to jamb it between the fence and guard.
Which wasn’t such a great idea as I got slack and left the guard out as it hung too far out in the isle.
Chewed off the end of the middle digit on the left hand eventually.
Now make and run a version of the Surty guard on jointers.

Hi Henry . The box does just sit on top and the bridge gaurd and fence Holds it in place although to be honest the box is pretty heavy and I do plan on making it extremely light and thinner in cross section out of aluminum. My thoughts were to use the two holes in the fence that holds Spring clamps to hold it in place quickly without it shifting. The box here is really just to make sure collection was good and geometry correct although knowing me many of my temporary project turn into permanent. You can see the box sitting on top in the video at the very end and me running towards the dust collection as I forgot to turn it on LOL
