I watched a demo of fitting a steel tyre to a wagon wheel.

Nd when it started to look like this:

    20180310_144051.jpg

and you couldn't move anywhere any more, seven of us went to one of the pubs in Kyneton for some afternoon refreshments.

We spent a couple of hours telling tales and having fun.

If you are going tomorrow, take cash with you. Many stalls do not that eftpos and the queue for the very expensive ATM was long - even longer than the lines for the food, which were massive. After last year I brought cash and food/drinks and I am pleased I did. It gave me more time to browse the attractions instead of standing in line.

I would like to thank Fletty, Fencefurniture and Shanesmith80 for driving down from Sydney for the event and being great company on the day along with it.

Yep I'll be there tomorrow from open. Worried about traffic leaving though. I've got a flight at 18:30 from Melbourne. Need to drop a car off at the airport around 17:30. Might leave at 1500 to be safe... 5 hours should be enough on the day....

I went there yesterday morning for about 90 minutes. Nothing much peaked my interest. Watched the guys put a rim on a wagon wheel and then watched Steven Wilson's french polishing demo again and pretty much headed out of the place shortly afterwards. Was there a blacksmith smashing away at an anvil there that I may have missed? I usually enjoy watching them shape metals in ways that timber just can't be done.

Today was the first time I'd met Colen and Terry. Both very nice guys. Was able to trade some Lignum Vitae with Terry for a 150mm tail vice plus some cash and almost added another dovetail marking gauge from Colen to the Toolbox.... Held back, though. Was my first time attending. Glad I did.

Wow. Where do you get your hands on Lignum Vitae? Does it grow in Australia? I thought only South America. Also on the Cites II list. Apparently the hardest and densest wood in the world. Beautiful too.

    Cheers, Dom

Deceased estate. Only one piece. I have no use for it and saw HNT used it for some spokeshaves and figured they'd make better use of it than I.
