Nothing sinister just I won’t be selling the big chunks, unless someone with dead pockets really want them, but I have 2 crates of blocks and pen blanks (all green but wax end sealed)

Pity about your nice lawn succumbing to the high temperatures over the last few weeks, and the winds that blew all the grass away. I hate wind, certainly wouldn't make a good sailor!. One advantage is that the kids don't have grass stains on their clothes, the dust washes out much easier.

Anyway, getting close now, should be a great weekend, even if there is no grass. (Lawn, that is)

In response to your comment Dave and questions from others about using a smart phone, I have posted a followup clarification / qualification
    on the Photo Forum:

"Can I use a smart phone?
Over the past few days I have received several messages or emails asking "Can I do the course using my smart phone"? The answer is "Yes, but" and it is quite a big but.

The course assumes you will be using a DSLR and discusses the features and functions of a typical DSLR. Some of these features are not available in a smart phone or only available in a limited manner. The major features of a DSLR required for any form of photography are the ability to set / change the lens aperture, lens focal lenght (zoom or interchangeable lenses), shutter speed, ISO and white balance. I am not an expert (not even a novice) in the use of the smart phone camera, so my comments are based on the opinion of others such as this article https://iphonephotographyschool.com/...mera-controls/ which refers to the iPhone 7.
In summary, the iPhone has no variable lens aperture - only a fixed aperture. Shutter speed cannot be adjusted in the native app. Lens focal lenght is fixed and there is no optical zoom function, although some models may have 2 lenses - a fixed lenght 'normal' lens and a fixed lenght 'telephoto' lens. ISO adjustment is available with an add-on third party app. Similarly white balance can only be adjusted with an add-on third party app.

Third party apps such as Camera+ offer a software solution to some of these deficiencies, but they are digital solutions only and in general will not produce the same quality as an optical solution. However, you may be quite happy with the result.

So the longer answer is: yes you can do the course with your smart phone camera - the concepts and theory will not change. Your 'camera' may lack some of the ability of a DSLR camera, but you may be able to work around these short comings with a third party app. Equally not all of the consumer level DSLR have all of these features either. Also you must be aware that I do not know how to use your smart phone camera and will not be able to help you with any technical questions.

It is possible to use your smart phone and you are certainly welcome to register on the forum and to participate in the course."

    Bob

PS Probably better to wrestle the D200 from Raechell or at least share it

I have prepared a few mallets in kit form for the kids to fit together and finish. I still have to drill out the mortises to make it easier to fit the handles and maybe a bit of shaping with the bandsaw so it is not too difficult.

I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.
