I'm dead jealous of your ceiling height!
The one minor draw back is it needs another ladder to get it up and down.
With the way things are at my place the second ladder is at my BILs, or in another part of the house etc.
Maybe a rope and pulley on that end or a custom hook on the end of wooden or steel rod to lift/pull the ladder up to the second hook.

In another thread (last year?) fletty asked and was recommended a method for hanging a canoe or kayak from the ceiling.

Seems to me the same pulley system would work with a ladder

I have a smaller step stool that stays in the garage so I can access the top shelves of my 8 foot cabinets. However, I like your idea of making a wooden pole to lift the ladder up into place. Since reading your comment I thought I could just add small blocks to the head of my push broom to guide the ladder on/off the second hooks.

We have a folding attic ladder in our house that is pulled down and pushed up with hook on the end of a broom handle.

    +1 FOR ROPE AND PULLEY.
Easier to attach one end the lift up other end with pulley. No ladder required.

I installed two pulleys on my garage ceiling, with a pair of ropes to a wall-mounted cleat via a second set of pulleys. I attached permanent weights at the hooks to lower them for loading the ladder.

    Cheers,

I dunno if you have those in your area but I use J hooks four facing the same way. Sometimes they are referred to as bike hooks. If your ceiling height is high, it wouldn't work unless you keep a step ladder/stool close at hand.

Pic for reference. They can be found in styles that fold up flat to the ceiling.
