Drawer runners in galley
Hello All, looking for some ideas for making a set of drawers to go in the space where the old fridge has come out of the galley on my 38 foot cruiser.
I need a design or simple hardwood runner system that locks closed and only a simple lift and pull opens the drawer. have seen them before on trawlers and such but being youngnever paid much attention to the details.
Many thanks.

The simplest system of these types of runners is a centerline piece that captures or is captured by another piece. To get it to lock, just before the runner gets to the end of the guide, it has a slight change in shape, typically little more then a notch. As the drawer is pushed in, it falls into the notch and sort of locks, at least enough for most rolling a boat might exhibit during normal use. To release it from it's lock position, you just push down on the knob or forward end of the drawer and this lifts the runner clear of the notch, so the drawer can slide out again.
Conversely, they make locks that require a finger hole. You put your finger in the hole to engage or release the lock. This can also be a home made thing too. To be honest, there's a whole lot of ways to skin this cat. Look around a bit and you'll see countless options available.
