Thanks for the kind comments. It was a nice feeling to flip her on New Years Day that's for sure. She is my first attempt at anything wooden let alone a boat.
I'll post progress pictures from time to time (and any detail anybody asks for) but if you want the full story it's over on the Glen-L site under "My Gentry Build".

The bottom paint is not quite as good as it looks in the photo, but generally ok. Sides are nice, just plain old brushed varnish. I used Northane on the bottom and apart from my lack of experience the paint is fantastic. It is 2 pack, very tough and even during the flip I didn't manage to damage it unlike the varnish which copped at least one small ding. The only difficulty is how fast it dries, even going once around the boat with the roller on the second coat it had started to go tacky on me. Apparently I should have been adding more thinners as I went to slow down the reaction but I didn't know that at the time.

That's brilliant trackhappy. I found your thread the other day, went right through it then got sidetracked into reading other builds and watching youtube vids. Now I've lost focus. After completeing a eureka canoe I'm supposed to be going the sail route but now dreaming of a thumping Barrelback Not going to happen of course, but it's nice to dream. I'd be lucky to put a Squirt together.

Anyhow, I can't believe it's your first boatbuild. The finish looks great and the boat looks solid. Look forward to seeing it progress.

Canoath, if you can build a canoe, you can build one of these. I work with computers all day and the boat is just about having a go and perserverence. Good old me of course chose a more difficult one first but so far it is working out. Cold moulded makes for one solid boat that's for sure.

A quick piccy of progress for you. Re-encapsulated inside with Epoxy, added the carlings, faired the sheer and glued in the transom top laminations.

Been a while but here is an update for those nto looking at the Glen-L website.

Engine is in and we started it last weekend. Tranny is in, and I have started on the decking and seating.

Apologies to the wind lovers here, but this baby just has to have a big donk to match her character. 320HP should push her along nicely (at least until the fuel runs out).
I have put up a pic of the transom with the rather nice chromed exhaust trumpets. The photo doesn't do it justice for some reason, it looks much better in the flesh.

Put them up on Youtube. First one she wouldn't respond to throttle (Dang computers!). Sorry for the poor video and light in ther shed but it is the best we could do on the day.

Nice work! It is strange to be building in summer, but now that it is cold there, I can relate. Bad weather outside means good building inside (and slower cure times).
