Default How can I get a 'gloss' finish on my deck?

Hi, I've just coated my deck with Bote Cote Aquacote, and it's got about 5 coats. I've been sanding with 320 paper between coats but it's not really a high gloss. Someone mentioned that to get a really glossy finish I need to polish the surface. Can anyone suggest a polish that can be used to do this??

    cheers

    Hi Greg

Give the boys a Boatcraft Pacific a call for the best advice. Their number is 07 3806 1944.

    They have always been helpful.

    Best of luck.

    Greg,

call Boat craft Pacific (BOTE COTE) for an answer, I believe that the Aqua cote paint is basicly a low sheen type of paint, but i have not used it .

Call them and get an answer from the horses mouth.

BoteCote Aquacote is a WR-LPU and doesn't have the shine of solvent based LPU's, but it can be buffed, unlike a some LPU's.

Make sure it's had time to shrink up good. A week or two should be sufficient. The buffing process is a typical two stage thing, cutting and polishing. The cutting potion removes the remains of any sanding you've done and any good cutting compound will work, of course depending on how fine the last sanding grit was. When the hull is compounded fully, switch to a softer pad and use a product like DuPont #7 or 3M Finesse to really gloss it up. Lastly, to make it last, you should protect the surface with a good wax, such as 3M Marine wax or similar.
