When I finished building ( about 1997 ) I had stopped counting at $17,000 but that includes just about everything including a new outboard ( 8hp Mercury - too heavy BTW ) second hand sails, flares, Semi race fitted out for fiitings, Trailer ( materials - I built it), life jackets etc etc etc
Sorry cant seperate out the materials only - lost all that stuff.

    I am deliberately not counting.

If you are worried about cost you are better off buying a secind hand one. Much cheaper.

I was replying to "thatstheone87" question. Sorry, Elmo I know its your thread. I ended up selling my Ts16 for about 6k. So yes you are right, but there are second hand and very second hand boats out there. Even though a lot of pride and effort goes into home build boats I dont think any one could ever regain the monetary value of the labour let alone materials. but we all know that. Its all about the experience and pride. I guess "thats" just wants to know if he has a chance of completing it financially.

Shaping the ply for the hull. We decided to scarf the ply together to create the full 5m length which unfortunately meant we had to do 2 scarfs. Time consuming but worth it I think. The ply isn't properly fixed down yet, just clamped to allow the scarf's to dry.

All shaped up now. Unfortunately ran out of time to glue it down.

It took LOTS of clamps and LOTS of temporary screws to get it bedded down but gee it looks great! Really happy with the lines already.

p.s. are people still looking at these?

Yeah that ply takes quite a bend. It is so much fun to see it take shape though. It is amazing how good it looks when we tidied up the edges of the first hull peice. Almost looked professional .

It is exciting to see the planking come on and the hartley hull shape start to take effect.

We have decided to scarf the panels on one at a time because we figured it would be too hard to try and line them all up correctly first.

    Looking good.
In a year or so when you start looking for expensive hardware, drop me a line.
I picked up a second-hand TS16 but want to change the rig to something very different.
If my plans work out, I should have most of a TS16 rig available - mast, sails, chain plates, etc.
