    Default what is a board foot and is this WRC

    i think this is western red cedar
    i have five large windows im not sure if i should sell them or use them to make a strip canoe
    i want to know what a board foot is?
    i have a book by Gil Gilpatrick on strip canoes and it says that i need 75 board feet of lumber to make it ? what the

    The top board in the first picture does look like WRC. Not sure about the lower one. How much does it weigh (need the dimensions as well).

    A board foot is the US term for the Australian term "superficial foot" (or "super foot"). Either way it is a cubic measure equal to 144 cubic inches (imagine a prism 12" x 12" x 1"). So a 4 x 2 is one board foot every 18" of length.

    Fair few people in Australia are using Paulownia. It is usually cheaper than WRC.
