Cor, you're not hanging around Rick. Don't you know that half the fun of boat building is stretching the project out and out so that the length actually becomes a problem itself
Sounds like you've got a lot of boat there. I still don't believe you'll get a bed roll in that front section, but maybe yours isn't as bulky as our swags. Got a dog to take with you?

Richard, hahahaha! I've looked around to see what I could do to make this build more complicated and time consuming, but this little thing is so simple that a fellow can only do so much. Yes, my warm weather bedroll fits in the front....already tried it out. A full out cowboy bedroll, or one of your swags is better suited to packhorses and motorized vehicles. Dog? Eh, the only good reason I can see to take a dog along is for some fresh camp meat

It's a balmy 19 degrees F in my shop at the moment. Doesn't look like I'll be doing any paint or varnish

And I thought this morning's 27 in Sacramento was cold!
Supposed to warm up a little by the weekend but it is also supposed to rain...Building Gardens of Fenwick, a Welsford Parthfinder

Yeah, 40's and 50's with rain most of next week too. Not that I'll ever complain about rain, we sure need it.

Ain't that the truth... Hopefully, we'll get enough rain and snow this winter to keep water in the reservoirs later into the year.

Interior is complete, painted and seat varnished. Primed with an oil base exterior primer, one coat of gloss latex house paint base for moisture barrier and two coats of satin off white latex house paint. I have boat flipped over and the outside primed. Hopefully, if the weather cooperates this week I'll have the painting finished.

Looking at the news reports here, I am surprised that there is anything like co-operating weather within 1000 miles of you guys.
You are really tough boatbuilders!

Hey Rick,
Have you had it out yet?
You mentioned you'd use 4mm ply for the sides if you did it again. Can you get 4mm okoume? If you can, I can. Just curious as the question came up over a couple of beers last night.
I hope your New Year includes a Goat.Building Gardens of Fenwick, a Welsford Parthfinder

I'm pretty sure I can get 4mm Okoume. I'm still stuck with the damp and cold...unable to finish exterior painting. Boat is up in the ceiling racks waiting for a warmer, drier weather. It's acceptable building weather tho', so I suppose I will have to start on my next project...once it's built, weather should be fine to do all the painting on both boats at once.

Hi Rick -
Last week when at Hughes Hardwood, I asked for a quote on 4mm okoume ply. They called Capital Plywood (the wholesaler)... no 4mm but they carry 3mm okoume for $55 a sheet.
If you have a source for 4mm I'd appreciate the info. A friend of mine plans to build an Oughtred Wee Rob and would like to use 4mm - but isn't willing to use 3mm.
I'm hurtling towards launching my Goat next Saturday. It won't be done, but launching next week has some meaning for me.
So... what's your next project?Building Gardens of Fenwick, a Welsford Parthfinder

Where ya gonna dunk yer Goat? Great job getting her ready to at least sip the waters.
Capital Plywood is the source my retailer uses IIRC...so...maybe no 4mm after all. I'll need to check and be sure. My next project, is a 24' sailing outrigger. Splits into 2 12' sections so is easily hauled on my lumber racks. Started laying out the bulkheads and the panels for the ama. I'd like to use 4 mm for the sides, but I'll use 6mm before I pay to have 4mm shipped to me.
