    If you alter the circuit it has to be brought up to current standards. That includes the requirement for all circuits to be protected by residual current devices.
    I'm surprised that a unit block hasn't been upgraded to RCDs. The strata managers should have flagged that years ago. Just pay for the upgrade and sleep soundly knowing that your tennants are better protected from electrical mishaps. And yes, I'm an electrician.

    Thanks for that.

    Curiously, I had a new oven installed. The sparky didn't say anything. I mean, something, like, sorry mate I can't do this work until you upgrade the sub-board. He just fitted the over and I paid him. So, either he didn't check or maybe I already have an upgraded board.

    How do you tell?
