    Default Bimini for wooden dinghy

Has anyone designed or built a wood framed bimini? I would like to add one to my Puffin dinghy "little Pegwell"

Wooden bimini frames are possible, though will be heavier than an aluminum tubing version. If using wood, pick a light species, maybe one that bends readily and don't over engineer it. Let the hold down straps do the work. I've built lots of dodgers and biminis over the years and aluminum tubing is my hands down choice for small ones. It's light, easy to bend, has many attachments and fittings available to put and assemble together simple, etc. Maybe if you sized the wooden pieces so they'd fit inside the available metal fittings, you can have the best of both worlds.

Insert a 7/8" or 1" wooden piece and glue and screw into place for a junction.

This can go on the other end, so it fits into:

Which you'd place on deck . . . Sure will look nice in wood. I say go for it.

    Default Thanks Par

Thanks for the useful suggestions. Now all I need to do is track down an Australian supplier for the beautiful Aluminium fittings you illustrated. Any suggestions?
