    What's a Blisscraft Oceaneer?

What sort of condition is she in?
    Got some photos?
Are you nuts for starting the project?

    Default blisscraft oceaneer

G'day Daddles. Of course I'm nuts - aren't we all? She is in reasonable condition. Another bloke started the restoration by replacing the bottom and then got tired of it. I only paid $250 for her and have glassed the bottom with Bote-Cote - great to use. Next I will paint the bottom and sides and then turn her over. Will probabaly use Aquacote. Any advice on alternatives would be appreciated
The aim is to fit her out as a centre console sport fisher. There is a bit of rot around the gunwales but I plan to cut that out and replace it with timber epoxied in.
I don't mind how long it takes me to do it all as it is great relaxation from a fairly stressful job.
I don't have any photos yet but will in the future.

Sorry Daddles, I did not answer the first part of your question. The Oceaneer is a 16ft. power boat - has a fairly deep v with a high swept bow. I think they were originally designed to be launched off the beach at Straddie. Roy Bliss is regarded as worthy of sainthood in the Brisbane boatbuilding fraternity as you may know and the boat is a brilliant design. There is a 14ft version which is called the Buccaneer, I think.
I think that someone may have tried building and marketing them in fibreglass but I don't think they were very successful. Rob M.

Sounds like a good pick up. Well done.

Is there any chance of getting her useable in a hurry, then slowly doing things over the coming years? That way you get to go fishing now rather than waiting for a few years until she's finished.

Sorry, I don't know Aquacoat - my experience with paint tends to start with the Bunnies Bargain Bin

We had a Ply Oceaneer years ago when I was younger, they were a geat boat in there day, when we purchased ours it still had the tail fins on it so was all original, 50HP Merc (pull start), later in life a friend had a FibreGlass version and it to was a great boat, spent lots a fishin trips out of Urangan in that one, a little shallow in the deadrise aft but man could you carry some weight in them, be good to see some pictures Rob

Daddles I guess I have the best of both worlds. I share a good tinny with my son that we fish out of so there is no hurry.
I hope to have some pictures soon

Thanks Dave for the pics. I guess she will look a bit different with a centre console. I grew up at Wynnum and remember a friend of my dad had one. He used it to travel over to Day's Gutter on Moreton Island.

I believe Roy was at the Woodenboat display at the Qld Maratime Museum last year. Someone may have his contact details?
    Charter boat? What charter boat!?
