Be careful with that one ... and work out what you want to do to it. I can't see nine grand in it though, even if it does float.

Yes $$ looks ambitious...
I already have a boat and SWMBO is unlikely to approve of another, but I was just curious as to its type. I have a vague recollection of the class that it is claimed to be, but as always wanted to know a bit more!

The type were a one-design class in Australia popular in the '20's and 30's. I think begun in Vic and then took off interstate.
Based on w/l length of 21'.
Not much but hope this helps!
Regardless of what they were, I'd be thinking twice (or 3 or 4 times) about this one.

Well, I did write a partial answer to this but maybe I didn't click "Post".
Restricted 21 - one serious raceboat class from pre WW2. Modelshipwright may be on the money with the '20s and '30s.
You can just do a google search like this
http://www.google.com.au/search?q=%2...ed+21%22+yacht
They have a few down at Goolwa - maybe about 6 and quite a few more in Victoria and maybe Perth.
They carry quite a lot of sail and are quite quick - I've raced against them.
Most have required serious amounts of money and/or time to get them back to racing standard.

And here's a pic...
Hi,
For a few pics of them n their heyday, go to
http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/picman/
and type in "21 foot restricted class" and you'll get some old pics of them.
Enjoy...looks like the ePay one will need a lot of TLC (and wood, and epoxy, and money) to get to this stage.
Regards,
Darren

Thanks for the links
Looks like it was an interesting class in its day. But as others have said, this one is a bit pricey as it is. Today, with 4 and a bit hours to go on the auction the seller has no bids... go figure.
Thanks again everyone for the input, and Happy Christmas!
