Default Murray Isles Design gone AWOL

I was about to suggest Murray Isles as a powerboat designer on another thread, but in the last 3 months, his domain www.islesdesign.com has gone to an american interior designer.
Can't find any direct link at the moment, & google only returns ads for plans distributors such as DFWB & etc.

Anyone know what has happened to him ?

    cheers
    AJ

I had a look round on the net and couldn't find his site either. Generally when a domain expires (eg www.storerboatplans.com) they put up a message like you saw. So there is either a problem or he has not renewed.

His domain has probably been expired more than 3 months. Usually, it goes into a "registrar held" state for a short grace period for the lessee to renew. Then it goes back onto the open market. Murray's has been re-leased to an american design company following that grace period expiry.

So I figured either he doesn't feel it worth maintaining a website & domain, has retired, or something bad has happened. I don't know the bloke, but he has some -very- interesting designs. It'd be a pity to see them disappear.

    That's all.

I'll do some asking around locally......I seem to remember that he used to be involved with the Wooden Boat Centre in Franklin in some way.....he might be contactable through there!!
I will be down that way in a couple of weeks and will call in and enquire unless anyone else can find out beforehand!!

There is an archive of the website at the Wayback Machine here.

Spoke with Murray this morning. He is doing much more custom work than stock designs these days so has pulled the website. He is still available via email at [email protected].
