no offence meant but i have looked at this design and find it looks a bit like a toy and only suitable for the bath tub
i need some thing with a bit of weight to it and the surf scoter at 4100lbs is ideal, the rufus only comes in at around 1000lbs so it'll bob around like a cork.

Richard I'm sorry I didn't pick up on this thread sooner- Can't believe I missed it because I've been wondering about the progress of your thinking, and some of the things you've written particularly made me wonder!
Going upto 22 ft makes many more great designs possible- but I can see that you are past those thoughts, and if I've learnt anything about you, then I bet there is already a fully formed picture in your mind of this boat, right down to the last details. For you now it is only a question of scale, money and time- and I don't include effort because it's obvious from your other posts that it will come quite naturally.
In your situation, with all that water and space, and access to moorings, such a big project will make sense as soon as it hits the water.
We will all look forward to see how it all takes shape, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who will be prepared to have a drink for you when things get tough. It's the least we can do. Just say the word.

you can always rely on Daddles to boost my confidence
no problem Rob missing the thread
it makes sense (to me anyway) whilst i now have the opportunity to build bigger i have to go for it, i will probably never have the opportunity regards space in the future
i do how ever have a workshop and room at home for smaller projects such as the Eureka canoe or a rowing skif

That's a real worry Richard, hope you are taking your pills and being a good boy! Seriously, that must knock you about. Are you still working? (proper money-earning as opposed to money-spending work I mean )

Thanks for your concern Rob, i went to work last week for three days before i couldn't take any more and had to be signed off again, it's the pain and sleepless nights due to it that's getting at me, i'm unable to fully inflate my lungs due to it (i can only mange about a quarter of the normal inflation)
anyway i'm going for a CT scan today hopefully to get a better picture of what's going on, i have had three coarses of antibiotics and none have worked yet, it just keeps getting worse the doctors don't think it's anything sinister (every blood test has shown inflammation and infection) they think it is a cyst that has formed on the pneumonia infection, so the CT should pick that up.
just had a look at the pic you posted on your thread, all i can say is
it's flamin hard work typing with pain all down the left side of my body

yippy my plan has arrived and what a great set of plans it is just a few things i have noticed already is the length has increased 8" and the beam by 6" the cabin has also been extended rearwards but i think i'll build mine as the original, also the outboard has been mounted on the stern and not in a well.
and i have an update on my illness not good but i won't let it get in my way i will build my boat.
well i had the CT scan It revealed i had cancer, a large tumor on my left lung and some shadowing on my liver, as of yet i don't know what type of cancer it is yet as it was unidentifiable over here and my samples have been sent to world experts to look at for identification, so treatment can start.
trust me to be different

Push through Richard. You may yet reveal the healing powers of epoxy, but perhaps more likely, the power of positive thinking combined with creative action
I wonder why he has moved the motor from the well? I've heard of all sorts of things taken out of wells, mostly because they are smelly, but an outboard?
Seriously, I had mixed feelings about concealing it, on one hand it looked neater and potentially gave better access to the side of the motor for inspection etc, but I guess that was at the cost of some space...what do you think Richard?

well looking at the plan you don't really gain any more space by mounting the motor on the transom, in fact you lose the seating either side of the well as the motor splash well takes up 3' of the stern, i'll contact sam to see if it ok to reduce the size of the splash well to maybe 2'

Bartender
The 22' Bartender is about the same size as the Scoter, but I think she's a better rough water boat. Just throwing it out there in case you aren't familiar with the design.
