Both depend on spans and spacing.

Not to mention the stress grade of the timber. I suggest that you get a hold of some span tables. Even better, get your hands on a copy of Alan Staines’ book Deck and Pergola Construction Manual. It has the span tables as well as a stack of other useful info. If you are planning on using F5 treated pine for the bearers and joists, here's the link to the tables.

Space your bearers further apart and use 6x2 pine joists cause at 1500 you will need 4x2 hwd as pine only goes 1300 continuos span

6x2 pine will go 2800 continuos although it will bounce at that distance

joists 450 centres as this is all deck will span unless using 140 x 22 hwd boards

bearers come down to a trade off between digging and timber size .. if you like to dig use a small bearer and dig plenty of holes if you hate digging like me use a big bearer and less holes

    cheers utemad
