Default Australian Wooden Boat Festival 2011

    Hi all,

Mark February 11-14 next year in your diary for the Australian Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart. It is going to be huge with the Festival receiving extra State funding so entry to the public will be free. the organisers are estimating 100,000 people through over the 4 days.

Rumour has it that one of the favourite small boat designers in the world will be in attendance.

Keep an eye out on Australian Wooden Boat Festival for further information. The more people that come and bring their boats the better.

    regards,

I've had this date booked since I attended last year. It's a great show even if you're not into boats (which I wasn't).

I've still to build a boat, but one day ...

OK Andrew, spill the beans on the rumour. After all it's only a rumour!

Kim and I will be there, but it'll be a bit far to drag the Goat along as well.

    Hi Bruce,

Iain O is coming - at this stage anyway and I believe the organisers will be asking as many Oughtred boat owners to come as possible. It will be great as he has done so much to revive wooden boats over the last few decades - a fitting tribute.

    Are you sailing yet?

    regards,

    Andrew

Oughtred! That is indeed awesome news.

Still varnishing and hoping it all comes to an end before the end of this month Then it's just the rigging to do (one weekend perhaps?) and drag it out to Lake Macquarie or up to Port Stephens for a frostbite launch.

I can't wait, and nor can the girls who ring me every evening to check that I did get that coat on last night!

Andrew , yesterday I got the flyers for the 2011 festival that features a painting of Huon Seal , that you told me about , and today I sent one off to Iain.
I hope he gets a kick out of it.
    Regards and thanks Rob J.

    Hi Rob,

Are you going to bring HS down? I think they organise discount ferry trips for boat owners. Be a shame to be on the poster and not physically here.........

Andrew , I've been thinking of selling HS .
And also , I don't do crowds well , 100,000 is a lot of faces.
But , yes , I'd like to see HS back down there , especially if IO was going to be around.
And I'd like to sail your waters , especially the open waters , she does very well out there.
    Ya never know !.
    I'm working on it Andrew.
    Regards Rob J.

I will have my Oughtred Puffin there. Had intended to in 2009 too but she wasn't finished in time.

See photos in the Yahoo Oughtred group.

    Cheers, Cameron. (Hobart)

    Default Booked and waiting

Just an opportunity to bump this thread in case anyone has forgotten that the Wooden Boat Festival is on again in just over a month.

I've just booked my tickets to fly down early in the month so I can follow on with the Tawe Nunnagah run by the Living Boat Trust at Franklin. I'm not actually taking part in it, that would require going on a boat! but will be following along to assist in setting up and breaking down the camping stops along the way.
Being a soft, city boy, I'm going to rent a camper van for the trip so I don't have to use a tent - one needs ones creature comforts. .
