Thread: AWBF 2013 Berth wanted.

Back in the big smoke after 3 days on Swift Sure. The WOW group did a fantastic job to get all the way to Hobart.
Colin only got about an hours sail with Ripples at Cygnet, the weather was all over the place with some pretty big winds. Ripples disgraced herself by filling up with water through the centre case while being towed behind the 40' tender (the skipper was not impressed). I think the next trip to the AWBF will be in someting big enough to just park and party at Constituion Dock.

Sounds like you have paid your dues and earned the right to park and party next time.

Colin, Re tilt trays it has been done, next time your are down Pittwater check out the floating gin palaces and their "garages".

While driving back up from Hobart I got to thinking that with all the sheltered beaches, bit of open water and throw in a couple of pubs a dingy raid from Brooklyn to the RMYC (wooden boat show November) could be fun. I am thinking that we would not have an "organized" bash ( give the insurance and all that expensive stuff a miss). Possible itenery, sail from Brooklyn to the Basin (coasters retreat opposite Palm beach) set up base camp there (heavy stuff could be ferried on Palm beach ferry or Wave Dancer), do a couple of day trips to Patong pub, Ettolong RSL, around Scotland Island and back to Palm beach RSL or even just around Lion island. Finish on the Satuday with our own Parade of Sails to RMYC. Invite all the different dingy mobs from aound the country (includeing the crazzy Tassy mob). RMYC (Newport) Wooden boat division and NSW Wooden Boat Ass may want to come aboard for some fun. Every one would have to be self cattering I would just put together a rough plan and assist with logistics and maybe a couple of big safey boats.

I would be in for Basin camp and the parade of sail.
Though I'd just launch in Pittwater. Don't think I'd be keen to return to Brooklyn to pick up the trailer on Saturday arvo (working on Sunday).
Activities might depend on the mood Broken Bay is in at the time, but we could at least mix with the stars for fish and chips and ice-cream at Palm Beach.

Well 2 years have passed and 2015 AWBF is but months away and Wave Dancer will not be going again. Just received notification that WD did not make the cut. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I thought a Hobart built King billy and Huon boat returning home would have carried some merit. The very pleasant and detailed rejection notification suggested I try again for 2017. I don't think so!!!!!!!! Not all bad may have scored a berth on a 56' ketch that was accepted. May be see you there after all. Ian
