    Dear Fellow Boating Enthusiast,

We are writing to you to inform you of an exciting and unique boating festival to be held at the Warneet Motor Yacht Club (WMYC), Rutherford Parade, Warneet, over the weekend of February11th and 12th this year, between 10 am and 5 pm. The festival will be hosted by the WMYC, and in particular Mr. Ossie Whittley. Ossie is internationally renowned as a boating authority, and is keen to share his great maritime knowledge and skills in an atmosphere filled with classic boats of all shapes, sizes and construction, historical models, boating and fishing paraphernalia, photographs, surrounded by fellow boating enthusiasts such as yourself.

The festival will be held in a relaxed manner on the beautiful Warneet foreshore, with it’s magnificent scenery. It is the ideal setting for a fun family day picnic or BBQ, or get your food and refreshments at the club. Wander around the exhibitions, chat to old friends and make new ones, and enjoy some easy listening live music.

If you want to bring your boat, or would like to exhibit maritime bits and pieces, please give us a ring to arrange the details, or alternatively feel free to bring just yourself or your family. Please pass this information on to anyone that you think may be interested, as all are welcome.

    Yours sincerely,

I hate to say this mate, but that's not hugely helpful, unless one knows where you're based

Bit like the Irishman being asked for directions by a tourist on how to get to (XXX) "well", says the Irishman, "If I was you, I wouldn't be starting from here..."

I'd say about 66 km SSE of Melbourne, down thru the Mornington Peninsula. For those that may be familiar with Phillip Island it is just north a bit.

Nearly right but the long way round if coming from Melbourne. Down the Monash Freeway, take the Hastings exit at Dandenong. Take the Phillip Island exit onto the South Gippsland Highway, go through Cranbourne. Turn right at Baxter-Tooradin Rd (if you don't you WILL come to my place ) about 12K from Cranbourne. Take the first road to the left (sign post Blind Bight) and keep on that road into Warneet.

    Default Western Port

Some photos of Western Port (including a couple of Warneet North, although not Warneet proper) appear here. Also included are a few of 's Tooradin, where the festival was held for the first time last year. (I'd like to be able to direct you to a thread that I had running about the Festival, but alas that thread disappeared forever in the Great WoodenBoat Forum Disaster of late last year....)

Edited to add: If you look carefully at the very top of the chart wallpaper on that page you'll see a round blob where Wooden Boat Fittings was located. Follow the channel down to the west, then south till you get to the latitude of the G in "Images" in the title. That's Warneet on the east side.

I've now put a few photos of last year's show (which was at Tooradin) on this page.
