summer haze
does any one remember this cruiser owned by a lady named Margie. It was a modified Hartley, whether a stretched TS16 or 18 I dont remember now, but she lived aboard year round. I think Boatmik designed her tender "Benjamin Beatle" Her partner Chris went along in "Virginia Slocum" I have not seen either of them for some years now. Summer Haze and Ben. Beetle had a write-up in AABB magazine.

Why?-because the modifications made a big boat out of a small one in a very tasteful way, and if I can find a similar T.S. I would do the same, thats why. On reflection the tender was "Alexander Beetle" not Ben. Can you tell me the issue of AABB it was in??please

agree
there was a similar mod to a TS16 - raised the sheer 10cm & the cabin roof by a similar amount.
did a quick skim of AABB #46 to 71 - can't see it there.
Will skim my earlier back-issues later.
cheers

AJ, it was quite a long time ago now, we were all hauled out at Tin Can Bay marina and they were cruising the Great Sandy Straits that summer and intended to go north to the Whitsundays. Neither vessel had power of any kind. I would appreciate if you could find the article/magazine.I am sure Alex. Beetle had a feature in the Duckflats book too, thats why I think Mik. Storer was involved in the work. Regards Raymond

found reference in AABB #31 (circa Oct 2003)
AABB #31 says it's a 20-footer.
Might have been a TS 18/21 at some point of its life, but the pics suggest -major- surgery
my perception is that TS's have more free-board around the bow
have scanned the whole 4 page article (1.8MB)
can PM it if you wish. It doesn't say very much about the boat at all.
have half an idea there was a more extensive article earlier.
looking further...
cheers

AABB #28 details rebuilding TS18 "Phoenix"
taffrail looks familiar. more so than Summer Haze anyway.
only have back issues to #10 or thereabouts.
after that you're on your own...
cheers

continuing the meander back through AABB
has been quite fascinating, although I'm about AABB'd out now.
found this in Launchings, AABB#13 (summer 1995/96)
was collated by David Payne at that time.
cheers
