Total waste of money as was the Failey. Does nothing for the state but just Adelaide again, and at huge cost. In this time I think there are better things to spend money on

Preserving history is one of the single most import things a society can preform for it's future inhabitants. Should we let this old lady die and only preserve when it's more economically desirable? It's never economically cost effective to restore an old lady. It would take centuries of museum and tour fees to recover the funds devoted to it's return and eventual setup. This doesn't mean we let her die, it just means it will cost dearly to keep her. Yes, in this financial climate, it might seem frivolous, but I assure you, one good look at other "expenditures" in the municipality picking up the bill and it'll become quite clear that two things are true: first is it's not really that much money in the big picture and second is the intrinsic value of this type of project. Nope it will not be able to support herself, unless run as the tightest program ever seen, but this isn't the point. The real point is the future, one where it's not as financially restricted and one where the wealth of information about this old lady can be relived, passed on to new generations and provide the "grounding" that modern societies often need when they get to full of themselves. I personally don't think the project will succeed, but I based this on the parentage of successes of this scale and about this type. This doesn't mean I don't wish it would, but is just a realistic vision of similar projects around the world, including several in this country.
