Ubeaut's Wooden Boat Squadron - NSW division
Dear All,
This is currently just a placeholder for the thread-name - content to be added later when there is some content to add . But ideally it would be of the nature of stuff that appears in it's sibling - or should that really be parent? - thread. I guess sibs can be younger and/or older so sibling it is . The idea of creating the NSW thread was originally suggested by Clinton Findaly (Clinton1) on the SA Division thread.
This is one place where, for example, I would announce the launch of Wood Duck, my Oz Mk II PD Racer (other than on my "own" thread on the subject ). When it's finished. One day. Eventually...
Cheers,
Alex.

I should have said that this is a sort of noticeboard in the same way that the SA original is - not just for my own use! And I should check my apostrophes a bit more carefully, too...

Meet and greet at Alex's place Satdy arvo. He's providing ALL THE BEER and later in the day, promises a floor show as he attempts to shape his foil
Seriously you Sydnesiders. Get together for a float somewhere. Go on someone, suggest a place and time, it's not as though you're short of water.

Hey Alex, thats cool.
Anyway, I live on the top end of Kogarah Bay... there is a boat ramp over the road that I live one, and 3 sailing clubs down the road.
St George Sailing Club
Georges River 16' Sailing Club
There is another one about 500 meters down the road.
Anyone want to come over on the weekend, I'll cook, kids welcome... open house... all that sort of thing... we can call it the "first meeting of the NSW Ubeaut Wooden Boat Squadron"... or just get on the water, eat, drink, yarn...tell lies that seem believable.
My house used to be owned by the St George Motor Boat Club founding President... so its kind of appropriate... the house even has porthole windows with sailing boats cut into the glass! and thats not a lie as I've got proof.

Hi Clinton,
Sounds good :). The Social Events Coordinator, a.k.a. The Boss, however, has deemed Sunday as a "Visit the Folks" day, so Sunday's out for me, which leaves Saturday arvo. I know we're not the only Storer- and other wooden-boat-builders in Sydney on this forum, maybe they'll pop their heads up above the ramparts ;).
Cheers,
Alex.

Alex,
No worries... hope others will poke their heads in.
This Saturday is out for me... working. Any other Saturday 'anytime' is fine.
Did I mention Kogarah Bay is flat water... so canoe and kayak builders come along.
Down the head of the bay (a kilometer) is the Georges River... some nice wind down there... they race a lot of 'moths' down there.
And... and... and... to tempt other woodies
(and I'll put it forward to sydneyites in other forum areas)... and
... there is more... if it is a Saturday, I'll let you lot into the secondhand shop from sweet woodworking heaven...
and we can lauch a 'raid' on Kogarah Bay,
a raid on some food and beer,
and a raid on the secondhand shop where the old saws and planes, chisels and bowsaws, vices and various electric things go that 'spin' litter the shelves amongst the other 'working with your hands' goodness... at a very negotiable price for cash.

Wow Clinton - that's raising the stakes ;). The crow-eaters (of which I am one - but in "exile" ;) are drooling with envy and appear to be planning a cross-border raid - I mean visit.
I'll have to check with the SEC (Social Event Coordinator) again, and maybe twist her arm to be allowed to skip offspring sport duty on the Saturday (whenever it is) in question :).
You never know, one day I might even have a real boat to bob about on the briny with ;).
Cheers,
Alex.

Cool . I can make it around 2 pm - Saturday sport until 1 pm, then have to drive - so make that 3 pm . Saturday traffic in Sydney being what it is (same as "weekday" traffic).
Don't have nuffin' to bring except myself, though. Unless I've finished resin-coating the foils board, I could try surfing on it in Botany Bay, ha ha ha...
Cheers,
Alex.

Saturday netball cancelled on account of water, so I'll be able to turn up a good deal earlier :). Not sure yet, but possibly 1 or 2 pm.
Cheers,
Alex.

The Boss has reminded me of The Other Boss' And Her Friends' Taxi Service(TM), so it's back to being later rather than earlier. Oh well, it was a nice idea...
