Default Who's coming to the Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart????

    Hi all,

How many here are coming down to the Australian Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart ? - Feb 6-9th inclusive see http://www.australianwoodenboatfestival.com.au/

Should be around 500 boats and 60,000 people over the 4 days(By contrast, the Sydney one at Darling harbour only had 6000 people through and Sanctuary Cove around 56,000). Last one was an absolute ripper.

So who's coming and are you bringing a boat?

YEP, a group of us are going.

Not taking any boats, as it is too expensive.

Look forward to meeting new people as we usually do.

    I'll be there.

I won't have a boat but a friend who lives in Hobart will.

I'll be there from the 5th to the 11th.

I'm not a boatie but I've been to the wooden boat centre at Franklin a number of times, I'm looking forward to it. Staying with a friend who works at/with the living boat trust so expect to have quite a few day trips lined up.

I've never been so I don't know a good meeting place.

I'll have a WWF cap on & I'll wear my WWF shirt a couple of days but I doubt it will last 4 days.

At the T&WWW shows there are usually agreed meeting places & times that are pre-arranged, anybody got any ideas?

I can PM my mobile number to anybody interested.

I'll be going over to have a look and am looking forward to it. I am a new forum member in the process of deciding which small boat to build.

    .
If you do wear your WWF shirt for 4 days, we should have no trouble finding you after, say, day 3

So who's back from the Wooden Boat Festival?

I'm not a boatie but I was fascinated by it all.
I went along to all 4 days and managed to find something new every day. There were many exhibits worth a second (or third, or fourth) look.

I took about 500 photos over the 4 days so SOME of them must have turned out OK. I'll post a few of the more successful ones that may be of interest for the woodworking content.

I was lucky enough to be in Hobart when the festival was on.

    A lot of boats!!!

    Lots of lovely boats actually.

I had a good chat with a few of the plan suppliers and the cooper making barrels.

    Very enjoyable.

I'm back, went on 3 days, saw a few blokes from the Cairns WBC but I didn't find any forum members.

I have several photos to post but I have a stck of work piled up so I'm just a bit busy at present.

I went, I saw, I did... what a great show. i think there was something like 550 boats. a great display.

if you look at the photo's that scally has put in his post (above) you might recognise my signiture picture. i was running the Boatcraft exibition where this one was being built and now i'm at the same level with my own of these boats

I missed it by a day but did get to go to the boat building school in Franklin, that was cool, I spent a couple of hours there.
