Default COUPLE FIXES TO FORUMS - Yipeeeee!

Last night Steven pulled of a program that has been giving a bit of grief since it went on about a month ago.

Tried dozens of fixes and nothing seemed to make much difference so off it want to the rubbish dump along with a number of others we have dumped over the last few years.

    WHAT'S FIXED:

    • SPEED pages now load much, much, faster than they have done for ages.
    • PASSWORD PROTECTED FORUMS can now be accessed again with the passwords you have always had.
    • TRANSLATOR is now back up and running.

    Good job Steven.

    Cheers - Neil

    Hi,
Can old threads still be activated or has that been lost again? That seems to have been the only good thing that last degrade did for us.
    Regards
    Hugh

As in viewing old threads? that shouldn't be a problem. If it is can you post a link or the steps required for us to recreate your problem. I'm just asking because i'm not quite following.

Pretty sure he means replying to old threads Steven.

Any news on the disappearing pics act? That is, all the threads where pics went missing.

Unfortunately the pics that disappeared 6 months ago need to be manually fixed or forgotten about. They still exist in the authors gallery or uploaded file list.

    Hi,
I have not tried any thing at the moment but for a long time you could not add to a thred that was over 12 months old but lately I have seen updates to
threads 3 or 4 years old and was wondering if we have gone back to the 12 month limit. I just asked because I was too lazy to check it out for myself.
    Regards
    Hugh

That sounds like another thing that broke and is now working, I just tested and can confirm you can't reply to threads older than 730 days.

An error has occurred steven! You are not allowed to bump threads that are older than 730 days!

I'm getting an extra couple of inches of real estate towards the top of the screens this morning. For example, when typing this reply there's the line:

(it's just one line, not bulleted)

and then about 55mm of blank before:
    Reply to Thread

Post a reply to the thread: Important COUPLE FIXES TO FORUMS - Yipeeeee!

This seems to be on all screens i look at (new posts, Settings etc). I'm on a PC with Firefox.

    So how is it now.

I inadvertently put new add blocks on for all members by mistake were meant for unregistered people. If you have ad blocker on that will have given you the different page look.
