Default Can I disable 'likes' emails?

I have started to actively use the woodworking and woodturning forums after about 4 years of spasmodic use as a 'searcher' (looking for specific threads). I am accessing the forum through a web browser and tap talk, the latter through two devices, an old iPad and a more current iPhone. I have been an active computer and email user for decades, but after some initial dabbles in social media, decided that life was too short and since then have generally shunned most social media. I am particularly wary of too much meaningless email.

In the last two weeks I have started to post a few messages and have started a small thread of my own (Turning red cedar windfalls). I have now started to get emails every time someone 'likes' a post, and I would like to switch that off, without preventing direct messaging by other forum members. I can't find that sort of setting anywhere. Any suggestions?

I don't mind people 'liking' my posts - I just don't need to get an email every time. If a post hit the mark, I could be flooded!

    Thanks

Good question! I had looked for this at one time too, and you reminded me to look again.

I *think* I have found it... at the top right of the page, click Settings. In there, on the left column, click Settings under DBTech - Post Thanks. In there, place a tick in Disable Emails.

Now all I need is someone to like one of my posts to test it. Doesn't happen often

There are now two "Thanks" and two "Likes" to my post, and I have received no email.

It would seem the setting mentioned prevents e-mail from either Thanks or Likes.

The notification area in the top right still shows that 4 notifications occurred, and you can still view who has thanked and liked as you always could.

For me, I Like that... <grin> Thanks all!

The result was that I got an email to say that Peter had 'quoted' my post, but I did not get emails about the 'Picture please' and 'Thanks for the picture' icons. So it looks like this setting under the 'DB Tech' settings disables emails about all four icons. I can live with that, and I don't mind being told when someone quotes my posts. In fact I think that is more likely to get me to go back and see what they said.
