Default Forum Homepage Filtering

Hi

It is now very easy to select which categories you would like displayed on the homepage and exclude them from new/todays posts. To do so please follow these instructions;

Goto your User CP

Then Edit Options http://www.woodworkforums.com/profil...do=editoptions

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and you will see a new option named Forums to exclude from view:
1.jpg

You can hide a single forums by selecting the title:
2.jpg

Or to hide multiple forums, press and hold CTRL key while clicking on the forum titles:
3.jpg

You can also choose to hide a whole category by simply clicking the category. This example hides the timber category:
4.jpg

Using the above example, the sub forums for the Timber category will still show up in new/todays post searches. To ensure they don't, you will need to select each form title within the category:
5.jpg

Please post any questions here!

regards

That is a very useful addition to the forum options Steven, thank you for that (it will also save the Admins a bit of work)

One question, if you choose the to ignore one or more forums, does that also affect iSpy?

Thanks for pointing that out, it you can now nuke as many forums as you like

Also an important point to remember is if you filter a category, you wont be able to view the sub-forum on the homepage even if that sub forum is set to visible.

Cat <- filtered
- sub1 <- filtered
- sub2 <- visible
- sub3 <- filtered

Sub2 will be invisible on the homepage but still show in search results

Cat <- visible
- sub1 <- filtered
- sub2 <- visible
- sub3 <- filtered

The category and sub2 will be visible on the homepage and continue to show in search results.

regards

Like the others I have filtered out the areas of no interest to me.

A welcome addition - thanks Steve
