What Browser are you using? Has your computer been update recently? Sounds like your browser may be clearing your cookies automatically when you close it.
    Cheers

    Bet the admins are stumped.

Woodn't want to be logged out as a woodworker! Plane to see it's oily for when you've finished.

    Hello China.

Below is a copy of email I sent you Saturday in response to your email from MWF. I'm guessing you either haven't read it yet or didn't get it, as I've had no read receipt.

Some of my response have been covered by Acco, but here goes anyway.

    __________

    Hello Bob

What browser are you using? If older explorer try changing to Google or the latest version of Explorer MS Edge or Opera and see how you get on.

Have you had any recent updates to your computer? If so this could be the problem.

If you log out when you leave you will clear the cookies which help you log back in.

If you have it set to "Remember me" and you just leave then your cookie will be saved and when you return your name should be in the Username box and if you click in the password box it should be automatically filled in for you.

Not all browser will react the same, some will do the remember as per the info above, whilst others will fully remember. Sometimes if you've been logged out for more than 24 hours will do the above remember and not the full remember.

If you have to check that your computer isn't set to clear/delete cookies when you leave the site. Also if your security program tells you to clear cookies this will stop the remember thing from working.

We have an update to forums program in the waiting room and hopefully it will be done sometime in the near furture. This may fix the problem if nothing else suggested does.

Usually it is just a localised problem otherwise we'd be inundated with people wanting to know what's going on.

Hope this is of some help to you.

    Cheers - Neil

I used the latest Chrome and Firefox (my current browser due to the unrelenting spying and flood of data by/to Google).... and it occurs on both.

I use the following plugins on both: AdBlock Plus, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, HTTPS Everywhere, UBlock Origin and Decentraleyes. It also occurs whether I use a VPN or not.

I'm not deleting any cookies that are set.

Therein could lay your problem and also a good reason why the forums are struggling to make anywhere near enough revenue from ads to pay for itself, etc. with revenue at the lowest it's been for almost 5 years.

Try deleting some of the plugins and see what happens. You can always add them back in one at a time until you have the same problem again. At least you might find the culprit.

These forums are safe apart from putting your address or email or phone number in a post no matter what any of the browsers or security programs may say. and if you are logging into the HTTPS site that could also be causing the problem. You need to be using https://www.woodworkforums.com without the https.

The forums can run on https but there are still some inherant problems that need to be ironed out for it to run flawlessly (or as flawless as possible).

The full https and an upgrade are both on the chalk board to be done but finding the time and disc space to do them is a bit of a problem at the moment.

    Cheers = Neil

I mentioned the plugins, but most are off for the forum (well, more accurately, exceptions for the forums URLs). Those that are on are not a reflection on what is carried on the forum, but my paranoia of government spying

I like the forums advertisers. I use them a great deal!
