Your link takes me to page 15 of that thread, starting with post #211

Page 38 starts with post #556

Notice that my link contains a page #

Your link contains a post # indicating that you clicked on post #211 and then copied the URL link.

Fred go to post one. There is an index there that Greg made not the thread index. Click a link. if you like click the one that's labelled as I described or not up to you. It used to take me and others to the page that shows the top being put on the bench not the index for page 15.
would it be correct to say that the hyperlinks created as an index appear broken

OK, I'm with you now, wasn't that clear to me!

Yes, clicking on #38 in the Index on page 1 of that thread takes me to the same place that you linked to.

How long since you clicked on that link and it went to the correct place?

BTW, the html code behind the #38 link indicates the post# that you linked to in your post above.

OK, I thought perhaps it had something to do with the change in forum software, but that was a long time ago.

Sorry, out of ideas and above my pay grade, I'll report this and see what the backroom boys can come up with.

    Yes sorry bout that.

looking at the page there are 57 hyperlinks in total. This is by counting each hyperlink not the number in the list e.g 1-43. Using the first hyperlink in the list takes me page 57. Clicking on the 57th hyperlink takes me to page 1.

I clicked on links from 1 to 15 (then gave up) and they all took me to post #1161 which incidentally had a broken YouTube link that I have now fixed.

I have the forums set to show 40 posts per page so page numbers can often be meaningless.

There is definitely a problem somewhere in the linking which I'll have a look at in depth tomorrow and if I can't find the problem I'll pass it on to Steven.

Pac man - The page you reported also sent me to the same page as you and Fred.

Very interesting. There appears to be a problem in most of the links. Looks like they are set to page links and not post links. I have just fixed link # 38 so that one should now send you to the correct post.

Might be able to get Steven to write a conditional for an easy fix, but pretty sure each and every one is going to need to be manually done requiring quite a few hours to find and fit all the links with their respective posts.

    Cheers - Neil
