Hi wheelin',
I 'sign' my better pieces with a disc of mother of pearl.
I cut pieces of mother of pearl, glue them to the end of a piece of 10mm dowel, and then I use a jig on my Tormek to dress it to a circle, drill a 10mm counterbore and glue it in.
This piece is much smoother and more even in colour than the pics show, so it was worth a disc!
