That's so nice that when he grows out of it you'll have to have another baby just so you can use it some more!

that rocks - my cot made out of the old fence is looking a bit shabby by comparision but I am not making another kid to go create the demand for another attempt at cot building !

The cot looks great and the matching change table just as good and you’re a first timer I’m a beginner as well and a long way from that quality l will just have to try harder. Once again well done.

L Plater you have done a lovely job of the cot and change table. This something that you can be very proud of.
Having made two cots I know the effort that you would have put into them, and the time constrain that is imposed as they need to in the cot at about 3months old.
I know it is to late for you but for those of you out there that are to build a cot the drop side system is available from two sources in Oz
1 Click systems in Victoria at about $15.00 each +pnp
2 Carbatec in WA I think about $20 odd each +pnp
And for those of you in NZ I have some here for sale, I got some extra and have sold to people making cots.
Regards Peter

L-Plater ,
Nice job!
Our little bundle of joy was born 3 months ago, and one of last years projects was a cot. It looks like we faced similar issues with the drop side mechanisms. My solution was very similar to yours. For a time I considered buying a 2nd hand cot off ebay with the type of mechanism I was after, just for those parts, and trash the rest. In the end I had to make something similar to yourself. I found the drop side mechanisms that Carbatec WA supply ,but wanted something concealed, and theirs isn't.
Once again, well done. Something you can pass on to your child when they are older, and having their own kids. (make sure you put your name and a manufacturing date on it (a recessed brass plaque works nice). When planning your design did you make sure it conforms to Australian Standards?

This is perhaps THE nicest cot I've ever seen - and very professionally built! The change table, too. Very well done.
Cheers,
Jill
