Well the house is looking simply stunning, I was amazed when I first saw it and nothing has changed now. I still can't get over how much you're prepared to do yourselves and how much time and effort you're putting into this but the end result is a home that's full of warmth,charm and character.

Looking back through the posts I've missed it's all coming together beautifully, for my money nothing looks out of place, it all seems to fit just right. Love the kitchen that really turned out well and damn that pizza flavoured benchtop is something else isn't it! Apart from all the major work you seem to have something happening in every little nook and cranny as well, all really nice little touches too.

I wonder if you're aware of a future problem though, when it's all done and dusted you'll never be able to sell cause it's priceless

You, Steve and the kids have got this building game mastered, I raises me hammer and salutes thee.

Hi Wayne - it's so nice to have you around again!!! Do you still have the same email address? I've loads of artwork to show you, too - including some of the kids'! They're going great guns! Thanks so much for your reply and all the kudos, etc. - LOL - and I'm glad you like my pizza flavoured benchtop in the kitchen!!! I must have been hungry when I coloured it!!

So true - the shed was really quite a cute little home for us, and Chantelle drawing Ali - then you finding the art forum for us, sure has got us motivated artwise! It will make a great workshop, tho' - when it's all set up!! Loads of different fun to be had in there then! Furniture built by the kids and I, etc.!

We laid 120 blocks today - along the back of the house (Northern wall, and exposed to the weather) and around the ends to doorways...so it is pretty much half the wall height in those areas & looks so different! I might take some pics tomorrow and tack on here! Amazing how fast they go up when you don't have all the logs to fit around, like the inside was!

Yeah, still the same email. Along with THE drought, been a severe art drought over here too. Looking forward to seeing yours and the kids work.

I can imagine you guys spending just as much time in the workshop as the house over the years ahead, can't ever see it becoming derelict and full of cobwebs

Thanks Beryl - I haven't finished BJ's bed - still, sorry! Not the easiest design, or the easiest timber to use, either - typically! I'm looking forward to seeing your next scrollsaw project!

Hi Ticky! Yep - the cottage/studio is almost done! Lol - and even Steve is already thinking of what we might build for a retirement home (many years down the track till we'd need that, mind you!).

Here are some pics at last. The fiddly brickwork between the unlined veranda rafters took more time, but we're all done, now! Great to see our windows on the outside at last, and to have a view!

Our satellite is playing up - but we won't complain about the rain!

The sewing centre isn't finished yet, but mostly just doors to do - but I made a little ironing board, and made my own brackets to hinge it from - I'll make covers for it soon. The rest are self explanatory, I think.

Jill, after browsing through your pics etc, I have established two things ....
1/ you do some great work with raw materials ......well done.
2/ you have way to much spare time on your hands ....great to see someone do some fantastic work with wood

Hi TTIT - That will all be veggie garden up the back where I took that pic from, and I'll build a couple of little bridges to go across the contour bank. Danita's building a pond at one point, too. The garden plans will keep us out of mischief for a year or two!

Hi Wendy and thanks. I've hardly been on here, so I have some catching up to do! You posting about your laundry? I'd love to see it!

Here are the pics for you, Wendy. I'll post more once it is all finished. The fold-out sewing centre is almost done the other end of this cupboard, too - I just have to fit the hinges to the fold out table I made, (apart from doors). I'll attach a pic anyway - you're capable of picturing hinges, and also varnish! The shelf underneath is more narrow so that I can put timber compartments on the back of the doors to hold bits and pieces. The machine and overlocker will sit in behind the table when it's folded up, so they don't have to be lifted - just pulled straight out. Steve's going to fit a power point there for me - see cable. The doors will all be Marri (W.A. Redgum - much like Tas' Oak, with a Qld. Bloodwood vein here and there!), and the top ones will have gothic arches. I have to mill all the timber yet for them - out of 6 x 3's...on our Trusty Triton!

284 posts in this thread and I've just now finished reading them all. I've also crossed out every question I noted down to ask because someone else asked for me! There are no other words to use in admiration of what you and your family achieved.
I think a wonderful way to finish the exercise (when you believe it's all done) would be to do a 'walk-through' with a video camera looking at EVERYTHING as if a prospective buyer.
Anyway here is a very inadequate "well done"!
