    Default Building progress shots

    Hi all,

Still the doors to build next week, but I built these yesterday for one of our daughters. Plenty of fiddly jigsaw work fitting everything around the round logs, but we like the look of the log frame. The doors will be jarrah frame & pine T&G. I've been building flat out while we have school hols.- and the kids have given us a bit of a hand here and there, too. My husband had this week off, so he was able to sand the jarrah floor (which I laid - 80 m2 for the upstairs floors).

    Cheers,

    Jill

    Default another one

Here's another one - there are 3 bedroom lofts (approx. 3m x 6m each) plus the mezzanine floor which will contain a built-in library, ironing centre, and maybe a fold-out set-up for the sewing machine and overlocker.

That's fantastic, Jill. Not just the timberwork but the fact that you could get hubby to do the sanding! You seem to be ploughing through the work there, will be a great place when it's all finished.

You mean you sew & iron too? or is that for someone else in your family?

    G'day Jill,

I'm now having to search for my socks, as the woodwork you've been doing here completely blew them off

Superb work, and a wonderful looking house

    Cheers!

I stand in awe of you and your work here, Jill. Absolutely fantastic. The look of the place, the combination of timbers and colours, the practicality of the designs, and the appealing execution are a wonder to behold.

The fact that you're getting the whole family to help too, means this house will be an expression of your family's life. Beautiful.

Thanks very much, everyone, for the kind compliments!! It's a great feeling to have got to this stage, and crossed off about half of the list towards completion! I love the work, though.

Sorry, Major - I'm sure my work wouldn't be up to your standard!!! Not that I don't have LOADS of spare time...!!

How's your home coming along, Ryan? I can't wait to see progress shots!

Lol, Alex and Harry! I DO use the sewing machine and overlocker, but not at the moment!! Getting the house done is the priority, THEN the girls and I will do the curtains, quilts, etc. Got to balance those hormones!

It is my design, Fletty - and then my husband did the working drawings up, getting them checked by an Eng. before submission to council.

Thanks, Zenwood - I'll be able to post some work done by our 13 y.o. daughter in the next few weeks. She is building (with a little help from me) the furniture for her bedroom.

Thanks, all of you, for the encouragement!

    Cheers,

    Jill (and Jack, aka Steve!!!)

Here is another pic of the mezzanine floor - the library will be built along this wall.

    Cheers,

    Hi Jill

    WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your wood work and your home and family are all amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the progress shots. It's so amazing to see what you have built together. Is that by any chance Jarrah around the door frames? The contrast between the architraving and pine walls is amazing.

I'm not surprised to hear that your daughter is building her own furniture or that they will be helping sew the soft furnishings either. Like Mother, like Daughter

    Cheers
    Wendy
