Corner workstation ... forget MDF!
The wife wanted a corner workstation for our small study area ... $1000+ for a MDF top was quoted ... NO WAY.
32mm Tasmanian Oak, biscuit joined together, all for less than $500!

Certainly much better than mdf but what happened to the colour match of the right wing?
Good looking finish as well. Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.

Colour matching .... I was trying to get good straight square sticks of timber ... good point, I didn't realise it was that light until it was fully sanded and the first coat of finish ... its timber!!!!!!

Just tell the missus the light timber bit is her place. Honestly that is very nice. Great finish.

WW ...... how is the top supported? I cannot see any legs or supports from the wall.

It is supported on each of the 4 wall edges by 40x19 mm jarrah batten with some brackets screwed into the top and the batten. The "magic" bit is that I have a piece of 25x25x3 mm steel equal angle running from the batten across the main diagonal (top screwed into it). The 32mm Tas Oak when biscuit joined together is relatively stable but wanted the steel to ensure the spot where the keyboard is didn't bounce .... nice and solid!

Good approach .... It looks as if it is visually very light and floating in the space.

Used Cabots CFP as the finish .... waiting 72 hours for it to harden. Then the next job is the cable ducting underneath so the cables from the modem/router, printer to the computer can't be seen!
