    Thumbs up Last Couple Projects...........

Hello woodies,Just a couple pics of my last two projects,a blackwood island unit with doors on both sides for easey access,it was really needed as i had to get on my knees with a torch to find things in my small kitchen cupboards.
Second is a white sassafras miners couch with a spalted back and blackheart spindles and rolling pin,it was made to order or i would have had a blackheart back as well.I found the white sassy is great to work with.

Thanks guys,i like to stick to the older style of work and use the Carters Guide for incetive, the couches are very labour intensive but the reward at the end is gratifying.I have been lurking around but keeping quiet as things here are dead in the water so to speak but i guess i have to come up for air some time....lol.

ok,the bolts are part of the couch's design as they were used by transient miners going from one strike to the next and it made it easy to break down into a flat pack,(six screws and four bolts and it is all apart)and throw on the wagon.Just about every home had one where i came from in SA.
No blackwood stain here Bob,it would be a sacralige to use stain on natural timber........

Sorry Tasma. I ment the stain that comes from working with blackwood. I have a project going at the moment using blackwood, and at the end of the day my hands are black!

Nice interpretation of a traditional design with the couch.
The island bench is a beauty - think I prefer it.

Thanks every one, didn't realise about the stain as it has never happened to me yet........i do like the island unit,i designed it as i built it like most projects. The couch was as i said an order and they love it which is the main thing.........in the original couches they have slats for the matress to lay on so having a solid base they can use it before they get some sort of covering........i still have to cover mine yet........bit slack eh!! I do apreciate the comments,i guess it sort of puts a feather in the old hat....thanks again.
