    Default Couple of Shaker Tables

I wanted to build something really traditional with a variety of joinery that would let me really apply my hand tool skills. Enter a matching pair of shaker side tables for my girlfriend's birthday/our anniversary. The timber is King Billy Pine excepting the knobs which I turned from Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle. Five coats of oil and a final layer of carnauba wax. Top attached with shrinkage buttons. Screws used were fully brass. No sandpaper or power tools were used. No electrons were harmed. Some trees were harmed. Some animals watched.

Very nice tables, Luke, and nice photography too. It's such a classic design which always looks good.

Good on you for doing it all by hand, I'm exhausted just thinking about it!
