Crapiata bed
My daughter wanted a bed made out of pine and then stained, mind you with the cost of timber these days, pine is a moderately cheap pick.
The bed post has a cavity in it which i will be making a hidden compartment, it will have a small box which can be pulled out.
The bed is put together with buscuits. still more to do.whale oil beef hooked

Your Daughter's bed is looking very nice. Your lucky, I made my Daughter a bed earlier this year, & it had to be ..... painted.
Good job, keep the pics coming. The fact remains, that 97% of all statistics are made up, yet 87% of the population think they are real.

Nice work, looks to be coming along nicely to me.
I like the idea of the hidden compartment, is the 'box' going to sit flush with the top of the post or you going to have a finial on top so it can be pulled out?Brett

As you can see by the pics the box is faily basic, will either line the inside of the post with flock or maybe a nice paper, I will probably flock the inside of te box to and stain it the same as the bed on the outside.

I really like your idea, I think it's great. If I ever build another bed, I think I might do something similar.
It's a bit hard to see in the pics, but have you left enought room around the box to allow for seasonal movement. Be a bit of a bugger if you daughter can't show off her dads hanywork to her friends.
Great job mate, really like it.
