    Default dodgy first chair!

hey guys thought i'd put some photos up of my first chair, made it pretty hard for myself. timber is blackwood approx 1200-480-480 oil finish front leg to seat joint is twin through wedged mortise and tenon, the rest of the joints are just normal stopped m and t's except backrest which is half lapped, quite difficult! machined the timber and bandsawed the rough shapes then the rest was done with a spokesave and chisels basically and a carving gouge for the seat. Backrest is laminated. all the joints were cut by hand. i actually got second at wood show in perth for tertiary but pretty lucky i think its a lil dodgy. got plenty of photos of it being made if any1 wants 2 c

A very fine effort for #1. #100 should be interesting.

Nothing dodgy about that sir! Kudos on some excellent work!

As Woodwuld stated, the fact that this is your first is amazing, which bodes well for further work!

    Thanks for the peek!

Looks pretty good. Time (and someone rocking back on it) will tell re the structural soundness.

thats some really nice work driftit. I particularly like the way you have fanned out the backrest. The curves in the seat are graceful & just ask to be sat on.
