Hall table
Here's a piece I made a while back. The design uses fairly straight lines, offset by the natural branch stretcher, and the drawer front. I found that piece in a firewood heap, some type of Eucalypt with a strange growth that works well as a handle/pull. The legs are spotted gum, top and drawer sides are camphor laurel, and the branch is cotoneaster. The sides of the drawer are dovetailed to the front, which is hollowed out by cove-cutting on the table saw.
Cheers,
Andrew

That's nice but i seriously think you've spent too much time watching men in tight lycra shorts !

I like everything about this piece, except the drawer pull. Bit too 'biological' for my taste. I reckon another little cotoneaster twig as a drawer pull would have worked better for me. Rest is superb, very well executed, and nice proportions.
The drawer front seems to have quite a large radius hollow on the inside, implying that you must have done the coving almost at 90 degrees to the tablesaw blade, yes?
How did you cut the tenons to fit the natural twig into the lower side rails? Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

interesting design, I think you'd need a certain decor to fit with this. if I may suggest it comes across with three messages :
rustic (due to the cross brace twig)
avant gard ( the drawer front)
formal (straight lines and complementary dimensions)
not sure if i'd buy one...
note this is my opinion only - obviously some excellent craftmanship....(eg leg angle changes at top...)

Hall table
Thanks guys,
I appreciate the comments. It does seem top heavy, (I have a little fellow crawling about and worry he'll topple it) but I still enjoy the light-looking legs. If I had the tools I'd maybe try to halve the slab, but not inclined to plane it down!
The cove-cutting was done very gradually, as it's hardwood, and I did kick it towards 90 to finish ....with a v.sharp blade.
The branch is round tenon, whittled.
Cheers,
Andy

Excellent work Andrew! I like the twig at the bottom - interesting design.
What are the dimensions like?
Looking forward to seeing your next piece.
