Default Huon pine table top with redgum legs

    Hi All,
Well here is my first ever attempt at building something other than on my lathe. It is a coffee table and it is 800mm long and 380mm wide. I turned the legs out of 80 year old redgum and the top i got from Mal at Boutique timbers for a great price. shhhh ($25.00). Had a big crack in it.
It is finished with Bondall high gloss poly.
It is a present to my wife for our first wedding aniverery which was yesterday.

    Regards

    Roger

Looks nice, is there any frame work joining the legs under the top?

Isn't the first aniversary the paper aniversary?

Anyway pretty neat looking table. The bride (soon to be SWMBO) will be pretty happy with that.

    G'day Roger,
Beaut job on the table. Naturally you used the table to hold a celebratory glass of Champers - or six, for your first wedding anniversary. Congratulations to you and your wife. One year down & many more to come.
    Regards,
    Barry.

    P.S. Hows bubs coming along?

    G'day Roger,
It's very good to hear that Alicia & the Little Bloke are having an easy time with the pregnancy. I hope that the run continues right up till the big day.
Seriously now ( well not really ), have you set the workshop up for him? you know, lathe height just right, all chisels & gouges sharpened & stored so that he wont hurt himself, timber prepared etc. All guards on bandsaw & dust extractor connected ready for operation. Start him out on spindle turning & how to use the skew chisel.
    Best wishes to you all,
    Barry.

    Smile Huon/Redgum table

You certainly got that Huon - even with the crack - at a great price. Bad luck you probably didn't have enough of the same timber for the legs, but the Redgum is great and gives it a lovely contrast in colour. Happy Anni and good luck with wetting bubs head down the track! Hey, buy a train set before you get him/her those tools.
