    Default Jarrah coffee table

I have just finished the construction of this Jarrah coffee table. The drawers are made of red Cedar. I still need to give it the final sanding by hand.

For the finish it will be wipe-on poly for the top, poly/oil mix for the carcass, Danish oil + wax for the drawers.

Beautiful work, Scott. The drawer handles would have been a motza to attach with the Domino.

    Very nice

Can I ask why the draws are so deep?

    Nice work there Wongo
The table looks very solid, and the drawer construction looks very good!!. I can see a lot of work went into the construction of them.
I'm looking forward to seeing the finished table.
    Cheers!

    Hi Wongo,

    Lovely Jarrah!

How did you make the drawers, i.e. the base, base supports etc? I can't tell exactly from your photos . I find it very intriguing.

    thanks
    Wendy

    Very nice Wongo.
Why the extra piece either side of the base panel?
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Nice design. I like drawers in coffee tables. They're good for remote controls, tv guide etc..

    Thanks guys.

Hammer, I am not sure why the drawers are so deep. Bigger is better I suppose.

Alex, the coffee table is for myself.

Wendy and ncarcher, the extra pieces at the bottom is just a fancy way to make a drawer. I believe that drawers deserve a lot of attention too.

    Love the table Wongo.

How much thinking did you do to match the grain and colours? Looks like some of the timber is a deeper purple colour than the rest, but serves to highlight the drawers and the magazine rails.

Looks fantastic Wongo. I too was intrigued by the method of draw construction. I can't recall seeing it before. Love the draw handles. Please post some pics when finish is finished. Beauty mate.
