Default Jewelry box with double dovetail joint

    Hi folks,

Here's a jewelry box I made which features the double dovetail corner joint, cut using the Incra jig (my first attempt at this joint).

The box is primarily made of Tas Myrtle with Jarrah inlay and edging. The lid features rippled Tiger Myrtle. The lift out trays are lined with black leather. I used el-cheapo brass hinges from Bunnings, but used an (expensive) Brusso stay for the lid.

My next attempt will feature the double-double corner dovetail joint (with double dovetails on both edges).

    Cheers, Rab.

    Thumbs up

Very Nice! I'm thinking of getting the LS-17" to go on a table I'm building. I'd be interested to know what gear (Incra and other) you used to get this result.

If an Incra, and some patience and practice, can help me turn out work like that then I'll be giving Grahame at Professional Woodworkers a call tomorrow!

    Well Done!

    Brilliant - well done.

I've almost finished the fence for my LS17. Will post pics in the router fence thread later.

Looking forward to dreaming about being able to achieve something as good as that box Rab!

    I think that's bloody fantastic - don't have a video camera do you ?

    Hi Manix,

I used an Incra jig Pro model with the Ultra fence (both are long obsolete).

You really need to get Perry McDaniel's book if you're going to get any Incra jig:

A lovely piece to be proud of, very neat inlays, very impressive. What did you finish it with?

This bit should be completely ignored, although I know that despite this warning, you will read it through to the very end.

A box you should be proud of saying that you made. Have a greenie.

    Rabster,

Congratulations on a fantastic piece that shows that the Double Dovetail joint isn't just a pipe dream but an achievable (and beautiful) joint. I'd love to put that up on our websites Braggers page as is is one of the best examples I've seen.
